The first Saturday in May each year is Free Comic Book Day.  In an effort to promote the industry, participating comic book retailers and publishers team up to give away selected books.

For most comic shops this is the busiest day of the year.  And this year Free Comic Book Day is guaranteed to be a very crowded event as usual, but if you can deal with the wall to wall comic-fans,  the trip is well worth it.  In addition to the free comics, many shops have comic producers on hand for signings.  And, the free books make for a good excuse to go and  support a local business, by picking up some other merchandise as well.

This year Free Comic Book Day is on May 2nd.   Find your local participating dealer, and head on out for some free comics.  Hugh Jackman demands it of you!
