A price cut on April 1 is likely what propelled the aging older brother of the PS3 into 4th place, knocking its more powerful and much more expensive little bro into 5th place creating what must be an awkward turn of events for Sony execs. What’s killing the PS3 is the price, set at $150+ over the next-gen competition. I am just wondering who doesn’t have a PS2 who is buying them now? The PS2 made its North American debut in October of 2000.  More info here.

I don’t have a PS2 or PS3, and I would consider buying the PS3 low end model, except that they removed PS2 compatibility from the low end model.

For 100 bucks in this economy, with the number of games available for the PS2, AND the fact that a lot of titles are still being made for it? It makes a lot of sense to me.

    Given that I have a 360, I think there is a good chance I would get a PS2 before I get a PS3 – unless I end up deciding I need the blu-ray player in the PS3…
