This weekend Sony announced the Fall release of PSP Go, just in time for E3. The new PSP will have a slide-up screen, lose the UMD, and will be entirely a DL and memory card machine. It will also have 16 gigs of flash memory but they are going with an actually smaller screen.
I have enjoyed my PSP since I got it (V.1), as I have been able to watch videos and use it as a decent enough MP3 player for years. Every once in a while I even played a game on it. However, with the new version (especially the drop of this decades biggest mistakes, the UMD) give it a new name. Although Sony usually means adult quality, the PSP needs to join the ranks of the Game Boy and be retired. (I am not sure if this is the 5th version of the PSP, but “go” is “5″ in Japanese.)
With a familar look but enough differences to consider it a new system, why not a new name?

Never. It’s a Nintendo game.
