Rumors in March of Natalie Portman‘s role in the big-screen adaptation of Thor were confirmed on Wednesday. More details are available here at Wired, but Portman will be taking the role of Jane Foster, the thunder god’s human love interest. The Thor movie is scheduled for release on May 20, 2011. Obviously that date is subject to change. Academy Award-nominated actor Kenneth Branagh is slated to direct and Chris Hemsworth (Kirk’s badass dad in this summer’s Star Trek) will play the title role.
