Every year the Perseid meteor shower pelts the earth with comet garbage. Each August when this happens, we get a nice shooting star display.

Tonight after midnight should be peak of the event, and the best time to watch, but there generally is some good viewing on the nights before and after the peak. You should see a pretty nice shooting star every couple of minutes.
Unfortunately, this year there should be a high bright moon causing some light interference, which can make it hard to see the smaller meteors.
And for those of us in the Pacific Northwest, the weather is going to be an issue…
But for the rest of you, kill your lights, go out in the yard, and enjoy!
