Eyebrows have been raised by the report that the Sgt. Rock big screen release is looking not to be set in the classic WWII setting, but will be set in the future.
I am not sure how moving the story into the future solve the “dilemma” of post-9/11 “American jingoism” the Reuter’s news report suggests. Sgt. Rock is a World War II hero, and moving him to the future would be like moving Superman from Smallville to Sacramento. This was looking like a better comic book movie than Thor, but even that title is starting to look a little better.

You’d think the Sarge would have been promoted to Major by now.
