One of my favorite Sci-Fi comics back in the 80′s  was Epic Comics “Alien Legion.”  If  you have never read an issue, you should be ashamed of yourself!  It is essentially a combination of French Foreign Legion meets X-Men meets military buddies-in-the-trenches story.  The main story follows Force Nomad of the Alien Legion as they travel from one planet to another in a seemingly endless war over territory in space.  It was a beautiful mix of characters– most of them were non-humans, and most of them looked like something the artist dreamed up after dropping some acid.  As a fanboy, I always wished that they could somehow find a way to have Wolverine team up with Force Nomad badass Jugger Grimrod.  But I digress…

USA Today reports that this comic franchise finally seems ready to be made into a film.  Reports indicate that Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer (no, I’m not making this up!) are preparing to put Alien Legion on the silver screen. 

The same story indicates that original series writers Chuck Dixon and Larry Stroman are working with original co-creater Carl Potts on a new four-issue Alien Legion miniseries for Dark Horse Comics.  There is also an “Alien Legion Omnibus:  Volume 1″ available from Dark Horse on November 18th.  I’ve died and gone to heaven!
