The students of the University of Mississippi are getting some attention these days. Their school mascot was the white mustached Colonel Reb, but they voted to rise in the ranks and elect Admiral Ackbar as their new school mascot.
The outdated Col. Reb was discontinued in 2003, and it seems it has taken them seven years to finally decide on a new one. Whether or not Lucas will agree is only one of several hurdles that will need to be cleared before the Mon Calamarian moves to Mississippi.
Interesting choice, though.
Admirial Ackbar isn’t known for not retreating on the battlefield. One of the most conservative leaders in the Rebel Alliance, one wonders if he won’t be a bit like fish out of water in the American South.

If Disney can license Donald… I don’t see why Lucas can’t license Ackbar!

I am sure he CAN…it is just if he WILL (assuming the school officials, alums, etc. agree to it.)

He hasn’t been elected our mascot. The vote on Tuesday was to decide whether or not to begin a student-led initiative to choose a new mascot. Ackbar is now fighting to be included as a candidate in the mascot vote.
