While the Sci-Guys were checking out Stumptown Comics Fest, I happened to notice all the cool cultural offerings being promoted. A few of them really caught my eye…
Trek in the Park first popped on my radar last summer. You’ve heard of Shakespeare in the park? Same thing, only with classic Star Trek episodes! Last year the troupe put on “Amok Time” and we got to watch Kirk and Spock duke it out over the lovely, if not slightly bitchy, T’Pring. This year, they have a real treat in store for us… KAAAHHHHN! Yep, they will be presenting “Space Seed.” Trek in the Park puts on its show in Woodlawn Park (Portland, Oregon) starting July 10th, 2010. (Shows at 5pm every Saturday and Sunday from July 10th until the final show on August 1) Check out http://www.atomic-arts.org/ or http://trekinthepark.com for more about the great group at Atomic Arts.
Alter Egos Society Have the urge to dress up and become a costumed adventurer? Did you shout, “Ha! I do that every weekend,” while watching the movie “Kick Ass”? Then the Alter Egos Society is probably for you. I saw some great costume pieces at their table today, and some darned nifty patches for members to sew on a backpack, coat, whatever. Check them out at http://alteregossociety.com/membership/ if you want to register your alter ego today!
Wild Space A Go Go Groovy, Baby! What do you get when you cross Barbarella, Austin Powers, and a stable of talented singers? If you live in Portland, Oregon, you get “Wild Space A Go Go.” This is live music theater with tons of campy sci-fi cliche, sexual comedy, and 13 original songs sung over the course of two acts. While the official website states there is no nudity or profanity, there will be all sorts of fun sexual humor. If this sounds fun and you would like more info, check out their swinging website at http://www.wildspaceagogo.com/.
The costumes look a lot of fun, too. Check out cast members Lisamarie Harrison and Nichole Cooper in our Flicker stream! Va-Va-Voom!

Did we talk about Star Trek in the Park in the past. This looks like a lot of fun.
