Queen Elizabeth II has knighted Captain Picard. Well, she bestowed the honor upon Patrick Stewart last Wednesday during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Sir Patrick was awarded the title of Knight Bachelor during the 2010 New Years Honours for his contributions to the arts. A Knight Bachelor, for those not up on their heraldry, is a knight not associated with one the Orders of Chivarly (for example, the Order of the British Empire).
Pretty cool, since he is allowed to refer to himself as “Sir Patrick” if he wants.

I loves me some Patrick Stewart, but damn, they are knighting anyone now-a-days.
Up next? Sir Johny Rotten and Sir Edward Cullen…

Sadly, they are indeed – but considering the various underachievers who have actually received various Knighthoods/OBEs etc, Stewart thoroughly deserves his.
I mean, he did save the planet and much of Federation space from the Borg on umpteen occasions.
