Damn you, Steve Jobs!  Just when I was really starting to believe myself when I repeated my “I don’t need an iPhone, I don’t need an iPhone” mantra… you announce that the next model will include video chat.  Bastard.

The iPhone 4 becomes the flagship of the fleet on June 24th.  Apple will discontinue the iPhone 3G model, but the 3GS will still be available for $99.  Expect to pay $199 for the 16GB model, and $299 for the 32GB model (with two year contract with AT&T).

The new phone is thinner than the last model, and includes a front facing camera.  An LED flash has been added to the rear facing camera, too.  And did I mention that it shoots video in HD?  Why did I just buy a Flip camera? Argghh.

Check out all the goodies here.

if you THINK you want the iPhone 4G you may really want the Sprint EVO

If I had to choose, I think I would go EVO

but that netflix app is pretty tempting.

I suspect they will have that on android soon tho.

And you know that there will be another phone that will blow them both away soon.

I listened to the announcement, and I have to say I was rather un-impressed actually. The HD video is nice, and the ipod nano’s video is pretty nice. but a gyroscope? really? no thanks. And I can’t get very excited (as a consumer) about iAds.

I’m not feeling the hype on this.

Of course, I’ve been wrong before…

I am feeling the hype on this…an higher res screen on an already nice res screen is pretty sweet. The chat cam is also real nice if you have ever tried to take a picture of yourself. 5 mega pixel camera is nice, too. I just entered the Apple nation recently, but I am not sure how long I can wait for this one….it’ll have to be next summer, but daddy wants.

I just looked at the iOS 4 update. I am looking forward to this in two weeks…

That’s to upgrade the phone…I am looking forward to upgrading the OS.

I must have been confused when you said you weren’t sure how long you could wait for the new phone. my mistake.

  8. Sci-Guy-John

I should have been more clear. The new features of the iPhone 4 excite me, but it will be next summer before I indulge. However, I am also pretty jazzed about the OS update, that my phone will be able to support in about two weeks. I will have to settle for that for now.

You may want to wait for version 4.1. John, y’know, to give them time to get the wi-fi working again.

  10. Sci-Guy-John

Is the wi-fi not working? My 3GS was working fine an hour ago. I love non-secured wi-fi.

Sorry John, it’s a cheap joke about the launch demo difficulties.
