Seventy-two years ago today, the superhero comic was born. Action Comics #1 introduced the world to a guy named Superman. Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster probably never dreamed that a little over seventy years later, collectors would be shelling out a million dollars for their little comic book.
So here is my question for all the comic fans reading this post: what book coming out this year will be worth a million dollars someday? Or have we reached the stage where NO comic produced today will ever be worth that kind of money? Independent comics and ‘zines might have a shot, I suppose, if they manage to create something truly iconic.
Will the digital age of comics, which I think has finally arrived thanks to the rise of tablets and mobile media, create a situation in which the actual paper copies of comics begin to dwindle… and therefore create a collectible market?

I guess the question is, what new character introduced this year is going to be around in 72 years?
