Entertainment Weekly was given the green light to debut the new Green Lantern costume on the cover of its Comic-Con issue.  If you haven’t seen the cover yet, you can take a look at it here.

A couple of quick comments, and then I will turn the floor over to the loyal readers of this site for their opinions.

1)  Green Lantern does not need green hair.  I hope that is just his golden locks reflecting the green glow of his power ring.

2)  I actually like the look of the mask on his face… a non-digital mask would probably just look like somebody slapped a cheap Halloween mask on his face with a little spirit gum.

3)  Not a big fan of the green muscles look.  Reminds me of Dracula’s red dragon armor in the 1992 movie “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” starring Gary Oldman.  Only green.

4)  What is up with the eyes?  I thought the eyes were the mirror to the soul… and he has mirrors for eyes… mirrors that are mirrors… my head hurts just thinking about it.

Talk it up!  What do you think?

Good points, Mike. This is going to be a tough one. I really REALLY like Ryan R. as Deadpool, so this is a different universe and a different character. They are just asking for problems if the mask and costume really is CG. I am thinking Spiderman 1. Ryan R. is more fit than Tobey M. was then, so there is no reason not to show off his actual hunkiness (and this is from a straight married dude).

Not worried about his eyes, but am more worried about the galaxictical (to make up a word) nature of Green Lantern’s origins and general being. He doesn’t do New York or Metropolis…he tends to do Infinite Earths, which is hard to portray locally on the big screen.
