Hard to believe, but “Luke Skywalker” is sixty years old today.

Hamill may have not gone on to huge movie fame like his Star Wars co-star Harrison Ford, but a look at his IMDB entry lets you know he has been plenty busy doing voice work for animated programs. Looking at his resume, I get the feeling that he does whatever he enjoys doing. There are movies, there are cartoons, there are Broadway shows… he’s all over the map. He’s going to appear on “Chuck” this season. And very impressive, at least by Hollywood standards, is the fact that he has been married to the same woman since 1978!

So Happy Birthday, Mark Hamill. Maybe I’ll go watch “Corvette Summer” in your honor. Naw… I’ll go watch “The Big Red One” instead. (Hey, I just watched the original trilogy on Blu Ray last week… I need something new!)

Sad news today, American screen legend Leslie Nielsen passed away at the age of 84. I think a lot of people my age or younger thought of Leslie Nielsen as a comedic actor. But of course the more enlightened know that he fell into that sort of role later in life, after years of “serious” acting work.

But I suspect that most people forget about Forbidden Planet:

Forbidden Planet has always been one of my favorite “old school” Sci-Fi movies. That invisible monster creeped me out pretty good when I was a kid…

Leslie Nielsen deserves a nod from the Sci-Guys for his great work in that classic film, and of course, his delivery of the funniest movie line in history:

Shirley, we’ll all miss you.

I don’t want to be chicken little here, but I have a feeling some bad stuff is going down.

Check your Netflix watch instant queue. Look for any TV series on there. Almost all of them in my queue are now showing “coming soon”. Just yesterday I tested an episode of Lost on my iPad’s netflix app. Today? NOT AVAILABLE.

I suspect that the companies controlling this content (ABC, NBC, FOX) have pulled the content to make way for the rumored new Hulu pay service, which will probably be announced for the XBOX at E3 next week.

I hope this is just a glitch or a blip on the RADAR, maybe it is just me. But if not, then there are not two ways about it. This is a disaster for Netflix. I boo thee.

EDIT: Maybe it isn’t the end of the world: netflixhelps twitter feed says they are working on it. AND now confirm it is NOT a content issue, but a technical one. Whew…

UPDATE: Things appear to be back to normal. Crisis averted. BUT FOR HOW LONG?

So keep on reading those comics with the kids, bub.
