I proudly wear geeky T-shirts.  But this latest Darth Vader inspired T-shirt might be too over-the-top, even by my sci-liberal standards!

The shirt, which will retail for $39.99 (US) plus shipping and handling, has a control panel on the front that lights up.  The electronic components detach, so you can wash the shirt after a sweaty trek through a convention or trip to the local 7-11 for a Slurpee.

I have other Star Wars shirts.  I have a Star Trek shirt.  I have Sci-Guys shirts.  I just don’t think I am ready for a light-up, battery-powered Vader shirt.  If you think you need one, check it out here.  It’s still in the pre-order stage, so you will have to wait another week or so to get one.

A few weeks back in the Sci-Guys Podcast we talked about the state of  TV sci-fi for the summer, and one of the shows that we all liked is “Persons Unknown”

Part of the reason we liked it was that after its run of 13 shows it will be done.

Well, make that 12 shows.

NBC was so dissatisfied with the ratings on this program that they have moved it to the burial ground of TV – Saturday night.  But now they aren’t even willing to give this thing a decent funeral.

They’ve decided NOT to broadcast all the episodes. Episode 11, which should have aired last night, has been slated to be shown ONLY online.  They will skip this episode and air the final two episodes on Saturday August 28th.  This is a pretty unusual plan for a show that in the past would simply have been canceled.  It is both sad that the show couldn’t make a go of it, and somewhat promising that future “doomed” shows may get a new lease on life via the web.

But it sure doesn’t bode well for mysterious serialized dramas (AKA shows like Lost) if a pretty decent 13 show mini-series can’t get viewers.  And that is a shame. It might not be the most riveting thing on TV, but Persons Unknown fun and certainly worth the very small time investment.

If you are watching the show, don’t miss the web-only episode “Seven Sacrifices” here:

or I guess you can wait until the DVD set.

John Carmack, the guy who started Id software and wrote the engines for Doom and Quake, demos Id’s new game Rage, on an iPhone!

Doom 3 doesn’t run that smooth on my PC, and this looks 10X better. He’s a damn genius.

Head on over to ComiXology they are have a great sale with many titles discounted up to 50% off!

As mentioned on our last podcast, ComiXology is the comic reader for the iPad, as well as on the web. This is probably the closest thing to iTunes (or Kindle) for comics right now.

Tons of the best comics on their store are discounted up to half off for the next day or so. This includes things like the Walking Dead, Invincible, but also includes better known titles from the DC like Batman and Superman.

The sale is web only today, and on the app tomorrow, but titles purchased in either way work on both readers.
